Why do I teach Czech for foreigners? Every lesson was a big discovery for me at the beginning and at the same time it is a pleasure that the students feel it alike. I discover my mother language, its riches and also its difficulty, I discover new sights at us, the Czechs, I discover the similarities and the differencies between us and our languages. There is always something, what suprises me, turns upside up my visions („How it is, that Icelanders don´t like their great films?“), and it is good! Getting to know foriegn students through my own language is my work, but I enjoy it so much.

Eva Mrkvičková Vokatá
My name is Eva, I really admire all foreigners who are interested in Czech language despite they can speak English - specially in Prague. I love meeting new people, talking to them and I also trying to see what is the best kind of help for them to recognize the new culture and the new language in The Czech Republic. One day I asked myself how to put together my hunger after cognition, my needs to communicate and needs to help someone. The answer was clear : I will become a Czech Language tutor and I will teach this hard but very beautiful language. It really personally fills me up for many years. This job brings me new personal contacts, new cultures and interestting people. Besides a great experience it is also a big pleasure and fun fo me!!! Learn Czech with and you will be very happy bacause of any progress and success!

"I teach how You need. My method is to find the most suitable style for concrete students and in that way to maximize their progress of learning. I like teaching not just the language but also explaining some of etymological, social and cultural aspects of it." This is my picture made of my dear students :-)

Teaching Czech for foreigners fulfills my vision of a meaningful, creative and varied job. It attracts me to teach other people something new, what can facilitate their living in the Czech Republic and open the door to the Czech area. Simultaneously, it enriches me to communicate with people of various nations and cultures, because it´s a way to gain knowledge and tolerance. I make an effort to apply an individual approach to students during lessons and to adapt the pace and content of lessons to students´ needs. I also try to make lessons funny and joyful.

Fate will sometimes have it that an unexpected event will turn out to become a turning-point which will determin the rest of your future life. And although I never intended to be a teacher, that is what I do now. Teaching has become an important part my life ´s journey

Katka Halamová
The idea of teaching Czech for foreigners crossed my mind when I was studying abroad. With other international students we were teaching each other some words from our languages and we discovered a lot of tiny differences between their meaning and using. I didn’t want to leave this pleasant and appealing world in which you can meet people from other countries and keep recognizing magic of speech in general. Therefore I stared to teach Czech for foreigners. And here are three words describing my Czech lessons: friendly approach, individuality and game.

Marcela Karlíková
My beloved teacher - Professor Večerka - always used to tell us that we see the world through our language. If we have no word for a certain type of flower, we cannot distinguish it from other flowers. If there is no word in our language for "yellow", then we see only light green.I like to teach foreigners to see the world in a Czech way.And not only foreigners... my two little daughters already see the world in that way, too.

Alžběta Dvořáková
Hello, my name is Alžběta Dvořáková. I have been working with the Czech language in its various forms for the last eleven years, since I finished my studies of Czech. At present I teach Czech and at the same time I am working as an editor. I am really looking forward to every new book I prepare and I am looking forward to my students too. I enjoy my work. I live with my family at the outskirts of Prague, but one can say that I am always on a journey when I teach Czech to foreigners, as I am meeting people from various parts of the world.

Katka Romaševská
Hello, my name is Katerina. I came to the Czech Republic 6 years ago and started to study Czech. I graduated from the Czech Language Department at Charle's University and now I pursue this language professionally. When I ask myself ,"Why do I teach Czech for foreigners?" I say, " Becouse I know, how to do it." I understand the problems and difficulties, which foreign students have and I can help and advise them. I teach asylum seekers at the center InBaze. At my lessons I use contrastive educational method. I try to compare Czech with native language of my students. I put a big accent on the pronunciation, as I consider correct pronunciation a necessary komponent of the communication, which leads to better orientation in the Czech environment and better understanding of local culture and traditions.

Teaching Czech as a foreign language has added an extra dimension to my understanding of the language. It is fascinating to view Czech "from the outside", through the eyes of my students rather than simply as a native speaker. Despite the fact that Czech is (wrongly:-) considered one of the most difficult languages in the world, it is well worth studying and I thoroughly enjoy sharing in my students success and progress.

Veronika Jedličková
Why did I start teaching Czech? At first Czech was always my hobby. I like its picturesqueness and diversity. On the other hand I can imagine how much it can complicate the life to most of foreigners living in Czech republic as I have also experienced the situation when I could not express what I liked to and could understand even less…Therefore I decided to do this lovely job so all my students could feel in our country like at real home.

Magdalena Slabá
My parents are both teachers and therefore I never wanted to be a teacher but something happened and I can say the Czech tutoring is incredibly enjoyable for me as I can be creative and free at any doing in my classes as much as I like. The most important are the practical skills of my students so they could use their every single lesson for a new level of communication “at the street”. The most interesting for me is meeting people from different countries and see their different cultures and attitudes to the human life then.

Irena Prázdná
I like miracles. When a foreigner achieves to speak Czech, I consider it a miracle too. Teaching is something like opening the door. And there is always something new behind this door.

Ilona Loubková
I have worked as a Czech teacher for whole my life. I can say that Czech is actually my hobby. However to start working for CLT just changed this life. I really appreciate all our students and their decision to begin studding Czech. I love to help them to manage that hard task. We can just speak Czech…
